Muscat, 26 April, 2025

The "Yemeni Melodies in Muscat" performance, part of the "Heritage Symphonies" initiative, was held with great success on April 24 and 25, 2025, at the Royal Opera House Muscat, one of the region's most famous cultural organizations. Both concerts had a fantastic turnout, with tickets selling out months in advance, demonstrating the amount of expectation and excitement in this unusual musical event.

The event caps off Alghoom's busy regional tour, which included concerts in Riyadh, Doha, Kuwait, and Dubai. Dozens of symphonic pieces inspired by Yemeni and Arab heritage were performed in a worldwide musical setting.

The Muscat concert program featured 17 pieces spanning Yemeni and Gulf musical genres, as well as two works influenced by Omani art. The Royal Oman Orchestra performed alongside musicians and artists from Yemen, Egypt, the Philippines, and Morocco over the course of two nights.

Alghoom's most notable pieces include "Awdat Mushtaq," "Sahar Al-Sharq/The return of the longing," "Maa Al-Dhahab/Golden water," and "Lahj Al-Khadhira/Green Lahj," as well as orchestral adaptations of well-known songs like "Kalma Jeet Bowzer Al-Habayeb/Whenever I come to visit my loved ones," "Ya Ibn Ubaidi," and "Sana'a Al-Yaman."

The performance featured a huge number of musicians and artists, including Hani Al-Shaibani, Omar Hadi, and Salem Fadaaq, as well as the guest of honor, Omani oud performer Nibras Yousef.

The Omani media paid close attention to the event, which included a cultural conversation session with Maestro Hisham Jabr and Mohamed Alghoom, as well as a gathering of music and arts fans. Oman TV also featured Alghoom on the "Morning Coffee" show to discuss this one-of-a-kind musical event, which was held for the first time in Oman.

This event is consistent with the Royal Opera House's purpose of promoting cultural discussion and creating bridges of connection between people via art. This is what the Heritage Symphonies project aims to do by delivering musical performances inspired by tradition and reinterpreting them in a contemporary style.
